After rotating and playing around with tire combinations all afternoon I have found that 225's will fit up front with absolutely no rub. However, 225's put on the back will produce a rub significant enough that it will knot up the tires on the inner wall producing a bad vibration over time, thus why my rear tires were just replaced with only 12K miles on them. Not that 225's will make a huge difference over the 215's, but every little bit of traction you can get helps, even if you're only talking a tenth of a second. Anybody running 225's up front?
Just an FYI 4 everyone when it comes time for new tires.

i had 225's all around on stock wheels, with and without my h&r springs, and have 225's with my 18" wheels and have no rub in the rear. You need to bash some extra metal back there with a hammer...but with the stock wheels i was not rubbing regardless.

Get the right offset wheel, roll the fender lip, and run 245's like Buckshot... Then you'll feel the grip!!!

Either you have the skinniest 225's on the planet or you are not driving your car hard enough. I know it takes quite a bit to get my 225 race tires to rub with my E1's, but trust me, in a very hard corner they will rub.
I run 235's on my 17's on the street right now, slight rubbing over very large bumps or when I have people in the back over smaller bumps.

225's with stock wheels on my 98 E0 all around with no rubbing issues. I have run this size since 40,000 miles and have 170,000 miles on it now.
The only time I ever heard any rubbing was when the car was extremely overloaded.
When traveling with my wife, two teenage daughters, and luggage for a week vacation there was no rubbing.
It may not work for everyone, but it works for me.
