I finally went on the quarter mile this year for the first time but i can't broke my best time of last year and i ask my some questions because the time i did are a bit strange to me....last year with a completely stock SVT i did 15.48 @ 96 mph and this year with many mods i did this winter i touhgt the car was pretty much tuned but i got some surprise...i ran all day like 15.7 with a best time of 15.51 @ 105.2 mph ! there are two things that i don't understand? 1 : How can i run @ 105 mph with a 15.51? 2: I did many upgrades last winter counting a SHO shop off road Y-pipe, ES motor mount inserts, 9mm racing wires/plugs , ported intake, HMair intake w/6 inches K&N p-flow....With those mods i though that i can run like 15.3 or something??? I add a mirko splitter to the front bumper and put some 19" wheels, to go to the track i put back my 15" rims with A520 tires to the front so the car was like 1/2" to the ground in the front...if not much air can pass under the car is that possible that the lip slow me down??? Should i remove it for next time?
best time of the day 15.51 best mph 106.8 best 60' 2.21

I'm not a track guru by any means. But that is strange that your mods slowed you down. Is this at the same track? I also don't understand how times can be slower with a higher mph. My mind just doesn't comprehend that part of it. I'll be interested to see what some of the more experienced people have to say.

There is something not right here. Your ET of 105mph seems impossible. Only people I've seen with those types of ETs are in the forced induction or well tuned 3L catagorey. Only way for this to have happened on your car would be that you pull really slow for the first 1/2 of the run then start pulling like a MOFO at the end. Is this at the same track as last year? Maybe there timing system was out of whack for the day. What times were the other cars pulling that day? Not to discount what you've said it just sounds highly improbable to say the least.

I don't know about your track, but think of it this way. Just like a cop needs a certain time to recieve your speed to your car then back to his gun, the track radar is at the beginning of the track too. So, when you cross the finish line don't stop accelerating for another 50 feet. This is probably not the answer, but a good thing to keep in mind next time, for all of us.

Why would the radar not be at the end of the track? And radar is pretty fast. I'm sure by the time your brain registers to lift your foot off the accelerator after the 1/4 mile, the time slip is probably already printing.

105mph????
Maybe 95, not 105. . .I think Tom (with a 3L tc) hit 104 or something like that, so yeah, something's wrong. . .

No way you trapped 105. Sometimes a piece of paper or a leaf or even the wind can prematurely trip some of the timing devices. This happened to me once, I had a trap speed of 476mph.
Also, it is in the middle of summer. The heat and humidity greatly affect your times. Cooler air will help you run faster. I think a rough guestimate is you loose 2% HP per 10 degrees over 60, with humidity factoring in also.
