Do all Contour SVT's have the MTX-75 transaxle? And if so, using the Full Synthetic MTF from Ford should be ok, right? (i.e. the Full Synthetic is not Mercon V)

Yes, all SVT's have the MTX-75. I would recommend Redline MTL synthetic over straight Ford synth ATF. You need friction modifier for the synchros to work and wear properly. See the Redline MTL thread in the Transmission forum.

Any fort dealer will tell you that the MTX 75 uses ATF...not MTL.....and i reconmend using 1.2 oz of friction modifier too.
Personally, I run Redline Oil MTL fluid...it has the friction modifier in it already. My tranny shifts great now.
Im not sure what Ford MTL will do, but i know they don;t reconmend it. Try redline, or the ATF tranny cocktail too.

Hey Guys,
Thanks for all the info. I could not get a straight answer when I was readin the threads on whether or not to use the FM with the Full Synthetic Fluid. Unfortunately, it seems, I have already switched to the Ford Fluid (XT-5M-QS), should I go to the Redline products, or just put in the FM?
Thanks again

The Ford fluid XT-5M-QS is what Ford recommends using in all year 2000 and newer MTX-75s plus it is also recommended when topping off any other year MTX-75. There's a link to a FAQ on this subject from the main page. You can also add the 2 oz. of friction modifier as this fluid may not have any already in it. Karl

Im sure thats what he already has. Like i said beofre, try the Redline MTL...regardless of what ford wants you to use. It has been tried and tested (I went ona 500 Mile trip to Las Vegas through the desert)by other CEGers besides me. Also Speak to DemonSVT and Lance (hes posted earlier). ANd yes i made a mistake, it is 2.0 OZ of FM. Anyways...Good luck.
