Except that "definition" is wrong.

All the TPS does is send a signal to the PCM to tell it what Position the Throttle is at. That's it.

It has nothing "really" to do with either thing you stated.

Load is calculated using PCM data (numerous points) vs MAF readings vs rpm vs etc.
[simply put] Fuel trim is O2 regulated and PCM data based at part throttle (PCM learned fuel trim on preset tables) & MAF regulated and PCM data based (preset tables) for WOT.

Yes the PCM uses the TPS to denote WOT. However WOT is WOT as long as the TPS is past the break point (~85%)
