there are 2 types in CT. this was explained to me by a magestrate last time i went and fought for a ticket.

"Speeding" violation.... defently results in increase in insurance in mass. from what he said anywhere from 2 -6 points depending on how bad the ticket was. this is what im sure most people get when they first recieve a ticket.

"Traveling to fast" infraction....... no effect on your insurance, they will drop down the cost u pay for the ticket.

this came straight out of a magestrates mouth in CT when i fought my ticket. he bumped it down to traveling to fast and $50 instead of $225

this is what i was told.... I always fight tickets.you never know. whats the worse that could happen if you fight it ?? still have to pay the original amount and lose a few hours...

i agree. always fight the ticket.

i've gotten 2 tickets a few years ago, both on 684 in ny. first one i showed up and the car didn't show so it was dismissed. 2nd one he didn't show but a buddy trooper give me some story. said they would change the ticket (both were 80 in 55) to some traffic infraction crap. it would drop from 4 (yes 4) points to 2. the insurance did go up a bit. i was on my parents policy at the time. a buddy got a ticket on 91 around hartford. he went to court in middletown. there were no cops there. the prosecutor basically was cutting deals for people. 10mph over and it was dismissed (if the first offense). my buddy was 11-12 over and basically got a reduced ticket, i dont think it was enough to get reported.

do u get paid hourly or salary. at minimum if u fight it, the cop may not show(not likely since you weren't in the boonies). if cop is there, they either talk with u before the judge does and usually cut u a deal if its a first offense. be apologetic(sp?) and dont talk a lot or interupt him. otherwise if they run the court like for my buddy, the prosecutor may cuts deals for firsttimers. just showing up for the court you'll likely get a reduction. very rare that you'll walk away paying the full ticket amount. explain you really dont speed and lost track of your speed keeping up w/ traffic. lets face it, people fly on 95 so its not a stretch. just some advice. you make the call.

oh call your insurance company and ask them what it would take for your insurance to go up. i.e. how many points or if outofstate tickets count. they'll know for sure. and they wont gig u for just calling.
