When I had my 87 GN I was at the drag strip and this guy drove in with another GN, an 86 and ripped off an 11.7 pass, then popped the trunk, took out a pair of slicks and ran a 10.8 and then drove it home. No kidding, these are the greatest muscle cars ever, bar none IMO
NO trailer either, incase you didn't catch that when I said the guy "drove in". Remember these cars came from the factory with 3.42 gears and I'll tell you in the 5 seasons I had my GN, rarely did I ever hear anyone running more than a 3.90 gear, and that was only because the guy was running a 29x11x15 slick or close

One more story to "wet your whistle", when I was in the GSCA there was a guy with an 89 TTA (Turbo Trans Am) that drove 125 miles to the track and laid down a 9.99@ 134 mph, more proof that you don't need a V-8 to go fast AND be able to drive it everywhere
