is there really any performance difference in getting the wider 225's ? unless your really pushing your car i cant see how it would be benificial to get 225's

225's better for 18's just because of the sidewall. dont want 215/35s thin sidewall=bent rim...unless you've got forged wheels. then you could just run on the rim

He's right...I have 215/35s on 18x7.5 wheels...too little sidewall. Were I to do it over again I would have had the 225s installed. My car is not a daily driver and SoFla is pool-table flat so it's not too big a concern, but I would never run this setup if I drove my car every day...
I put 36 lbs of air in the tires to make sure I don't bend the rims....doesn't make for a pleasant ride. I'm also very careful where/how I drive.

I have 225/45/17 on my car with eibach lowering springs and it hooks up awesome now. better control of the car my choice is 225 i had 215 the spun way too much!

not to hijack the thread, but same question but with stock wheels? i would think the 225's would bulge?

I'll disagree with the bulging. I have 225's on stock rims. But unlike everyone else I have 225/45/16's which it seems everyone else likes the 4X4 look and goes with the 225/50/16's. I lowered my car for a reason, so I'm not gonna put some 50 series tires on so I can put it right back up to stock height
