ok so today I finally got a chance to get my car re-aligned with my new wheels on it. So I call around and find that Mr. Tire had the best price for a 4-wheel alignment. Well I get there and the guy says its going to be $75.** including the tax so I said ok sure. I'm going to leave the car here, call me when it's done. So about 2.5 hrs later I get a call that my car is finished and that I can come pick it up. So I get up there and the guy at the counter re-does the price and says...you gave me a coupon...its the one from The Sun paper. So I was like ok great you know...instead of $75 it was $60. So I glance at the wheels and everything looks to be alright. I leave go to get lunch at Arby's and while I'm inside, I'm thinkin to myself...hmmm that was awkardly nice of him to take that $15 off even though I didn't have the coupon. So as soon as my food comes out and I walk out to the car I decide to check out the wheels to check if there was any damage to my BRAND NEW WHEELS. not even on the car for a week yet. THERE IS F***'n clamp markes on all of my wheels!!! So now I'm pissed...I pay over a grand for these wheels and already some F's them up...NO WAY!

I fly back to Mr. Tire and storm inside and told the guy "YOU GUYS SCRATCHED MY NEW WHEELS!!!"

"Don't yell at me. I didn't work on your car...It's the Contour right?"

"YEAH I JUST LEFT HERE!"

"Well you're going to have to come back tomorrow and talk to my manager. Here is his card."

"Come and look at my wheels...I just got them this passed Wednesday and you guys put a clamp on them and scratched them all to hell."

"well there should have been no part of the clamp that touched your wheels..oh yeah(after seeing the clamp marks)...you're going to have to talk to my manager tomorrow about this"

ARRRRRGG

If anyone should be able to F up the wheels it should be me. Not someone I payed to fix my car. What the hell is that?

They are deep dish wheels and they are brand new. What are they going to do? Send them out to be refinished? Replace them?

If they send them out does that weaken the wheels?

$#!T if I didn't have bad luck, I'd have no luck at all

when i go up there tomorrow I'm taking a digital camera and if he tries to deny it I'm going to make him put the clamps back on the wheels exactly where they were to prove it. I've got witnesses that saw the wheels when they were put on on Wednesday, and SVT ST PETE saw them yesterday.

damn dude that sucks. document everything and give them hell.

Too late on this one, but I ALWAYS take digital stills and video of any vehicle I have if it goes into ANY shop.

I've learned the hard way.

Take the pics anyway and ask for a new set.

Take the reciept/invoice/whatever for the wheels to show Mr. Manager that they are brand new.

I just know that a tire shop I took my car to put a small gouge on the lip of one of my wheels a couple years ago. I didn't notice it until about a week later, too late by then. Every time I was my wheels I get mad about it.

i am ordering 18" tires tomorrow and i will have to take them to get mounted and balanced. i will document before and after just incase.

That sucks! Next time you need non-warranty work/maintenance done, hit me up on AIM and I'll get you the number for the local shop I go to in Laurel.

Tire stores around here usually have a sign up that states something to the effect "we are not responsible for damage to alloy wheels". You may not have much recourse if that tire store has a similar policy.

why weren't you around last Friday to tell me where to go Jess? SHIOT!

ok so i went to Mr. Tire today and talked to the manager. He's going to fix the wheels and he told me it would take less than a day to get them finished.

but get this...he tells me that no matter where i would have gone...they would have scratched the wheels because they have to use that clamp to align the wheels.


ok hard to beleive but whatever...im never going back there and hes fixing what his company did. There was nothing posted in the office about harm that may occur to any wheels from the machine and i was never verbally warned.


Jess you gotta tell me where to go man. I can't be going through this crap everytime i want my wheels aligned
