Zetecs run hot, its the nature of the beast.
there should be pressure on the cap, if there isn't, replace it
The two most common mods to help cool your engine down are;
1) Switch from stock 192 degree thermostat to a 180 degree thermostat
2) Add a bottle of Redline Water Wetter to the coolant

Mine goes to the L in slow traffic, or when stopped, especially in hot weather. But, at highway speeds, especially in cool weather, mine stays at about the R-M. I finally figured out that part of my problem is that the low speed fan control is not working. That's probably not your problem though, if your's is at the L under all driving conditions.

yeah mine does it all the time (but it doesnt loose any coolant or it doesnt boil )

i just bought a flush kit and some new antifreeze
my ? is where do i install the T (it says in the heater core inlet )where is that i cant see it from up top.
have any of you ever installed one of those kits so you can back flush the system ?

if that doesnt fix it i am going to buy a temp sensor then a 180 Thermestat

I have a 95 contour gl and my car has ran at high temperatures since i got it about 2 months ago. about a week after i bought it i got a 165 degree thermostat and it would still run around the l mark but i never let it get any higher because i would turn on the heater. one time i let it run and left the heater off and once it would get between the l and the line to the left of the red the fan would go on and it would cool down.

I can't help you on that (I've always flushed it with
the fill/drain method w/o a flush kit), but flushing it well
and then filling it with DISTILLED water + coolant helped
me a lot. There was a lots of sand in there b/c (I guess)
the previous owner used tapwater.

I tried the water wetter, it didn't help, then flushed it
really well and that did. If it's getting hot in slow traffic
I switch on the A/C (it's hot outside anyways) and it
brings it down to R-M in a minute.

I have a sleek suspicion that these cars were designed so
that you use the A/C if it's hot outside and the additional
fan will help the ariflow if the car is slow.

Mine's the opposite: Gotta turn off the a/c while stopped or in slow moving traffic or it starts blowing warm air and the needle gets too high for my liking...

well i just got done flushing the system
but when i was flushing it with the water and a bottle of prestone cleaner it began to boil and go past the l mark so i turn off the heater (which stop blowing heat when it got to the l mark )
and tuned on the ac and the temp went to the just below the l mark like in the top of the A

i dont know whats going on now it never went that high yesterday
iam lettign it cool down so i can remove the old flushing stuff and flush it out with some new water

also my dam timing belt is hitting the top cover
i took the cover off and it is a little floppy
how long will it last like that (the timing belt
