Check NECO I posted a how-to in the How-To section a month or two ago. Not the best how-to but it will work.

The 3L intake will give a little more top end. You don't have a choice when you do a straight 3L because of the oval port heads unless you fab an adapter. Only on hybrids can you run the early 3L aliminum intakes or the SVT intake.

Actually, I was under the impression that the single runner intake on the later 3L motors was optimized for mid-range power (right where the ATX Taurus would be using it), and the dual runner setup (especially the SVT setup) was optimized for top end, as well as a bit more low end power on the smaller displacement motor.
The thinking is that the long runners on the dual runner setup are best for low end, and the short runners were best for top end. In the single runner manifold, the runners could be considered "medium runners" (not as short as the dual shorties nor as long as the dual longies) and would be at their best in the midrange.
However, I have yet to see a dyno plot that compares the two setups, so it's all theory for now.

Ok, probably going to get slammed ... will a 3L manifold fit/ do any good on a 2.5? Just wondering cause there are IMRC issues and some have removed the LIM butterflies.

You would be shooting yourself in the foot. Believe it or not, the secondary ports (when they actually open) help out the motor quite a bit. the 2.5L is still a relatively small V6, so it needs help wherever it can get it.

Really. Show me this PROOF!
Let me see this dyno data at every rpm point and then a subsequent one with a DH 2.5L UIM. (back to back of course!)
Until that happens it's all conjecture and just plain wishful thinking.
The 3L UIM is DESIGNED for an ATX driven HEAVY vehicle. Therefore the rpm range it is tuned for is low and midrange. The exact opposite of our engine design.

That's what Stazi told me from his butt dyno. So no dyno PROOF!

Dyno is a waste of time, at least on a 3L SE hybrid. There was so much more TQ AND HP with the 3L UIM swap that is wasn't worth it to make the 3 hour trip to the nearest dyno at the time. I still wonder what it would have put down though...
Blackcoog put one on his swap and didn't notice much of a difference on his SVT hybrid. That's not a bad deal considering a 3L UIM can be purchased for $30-$70 and be something the 2.5L UIM could only dream of... hand ported!!!
