Well I guess we won't be seeing the french language die in our lifetime.. But it will diseappear eventually. I wonder which language will prevail then?
I think it's awful to see that the French - as in "living-in-France" - are using more and more english words in their everyday conversations. You won't hear them using "stationnement", "pharmacie", "magasinage", but rather "parking", "drugstore" and "shopping"! The subtle differences in the prononciation of sounds derived from "e" are almost nonexistent - true in France, but not in other parts of the french-speaking world.
My native language is french, and boy am I glad I learned english while I was young....
Getting back to the changing of words.. "courriel" has been in use in Quebec for a few years now, it's the "officiality" of the word by "L'Académie Française" - roughly the French language "standard" that has been acknowledged. But I doubt it will be used by the majority in France, the word "e-mail" sounds cooler to them.. 
Oh well... and since I'm canadian too, I must add: eh?

A lot of people say that, I have lived in German speaking countrys for some time and yes Europe is adopting english word into their languages. But they still retain the basics of it, and I think that will stay forever. I cant see France or Germany speaking english, you still need to remember they have a whole grammar system that isn't changing. I heard english words but they were used with german grammar, its actually quite funny. But I also didn't hear that many words from english.
