Yeah, old, but still a reminder that good ideas can go horribly wrong when people have too much time and money. That car went from an insane handling car to a tire melting, mediocre 1/4 car. Don't get me wrong, it's stupid fast, but if I had the time and money, I could put that motor in anything and still get the same publicity. Stick that Cobra in a Fiesta, leave the FSVT alone!

Insane amount of money that isn't worth it, but HUGE sleeper. Still is supposed to handle good, probably even better than stock, and definitely faster than stock.

Low 11's in an FSVT doesn't spell sleeper in my book. It does not handle better, that Cobra motor weighs an insane amount more than the OEM 4 banger and it's rear wheel drive now. There are actually a couple of these cars and some of them are very competitive at auto-x, but for the money, they could have invested in a turbo kit from Turbo Tom, some sticky icky tires, 13.2" Wilwood discs with 4 piston calipers, and some suspension tweaks and get out for well under 10 grand instead of 70+.

Yeah but it is the fact it is a Cobra engine. A WHOLE lot of torque!

But it's also cobra suspension, brakes, etc. and a nearly 50/50 weight ratios. True the money can be spent better. But it has a certain coolness factor, not a huge problem with traction like a FWD car has, and a 2 year warranty. Still money can be spent wiser,,, but it's still cool.

I never said it wasn't cool. Sticking a 350 shot NX kit on a stock Metro would be cool, for the 13 seconds it'll take to get down the track and explode. All bottle, no throttle = teh cool!

Did you see the web page where some guys rented a Cavilier and put a 150 shot on it? Ran pretty well until a valve shot out the hood, IIRC.
