I have a 97 Contour and was wondering if there was a mod out there that I could do on my own (relatively easy) that would give me clear headlights... I saw the one about the Morette mod and it looks pretty good.

Does anyone know how to do that kinda mod?

I also had a question about putting a different cars headlights in mine... Would the headlights from a pre-98 Accord fit in the housing? Does anyone know someone that has done this or tried to do this? They have some pretty nice replacement headlights for the Accord that I was hoping to be able to get because they seem to be the same but Im not too sure.

Also does anyone know how hard it is to remove the headlight housing and the clear plastic piece? I also wanna do clear corners and maybe doing my own custom job for my headlights.

I just need some help in some of these areas cause Ive never done a headlight mod before... Also has anyone attempted a tail-light mod for the pre-98s? Something like the Morette style? I did a search for both and didnt come up with much that gave an idea of how to do it.

If anyone knows where I can get some help doing this itd be greatly appreciated. Thanks...

i just took my whole assembly apart. I think it is a hit and miss situation for installing other vehicles lights into the housing....may or may not work. i took the plastic lens off mine wet sanded the lens and polished to make look new, removed the reflector, added a clear turn bulb (insted of orange) and ultra blue headlights. it looks 300% better than it did. if you need help getting the lens off i may be able to give some pointers. PM me in that case.

Was it a real pain in the ass to take em off your car?

I had a Grand Am and when I took off the fog lights it was the biggest pain ripping them out.

I got a pair on order on Ebay. Theyre old and beat to hell but theyre like 10 bucks a pop so I figured its not too bad a deal. Im gonna leave mine on my car and mess with those. This way I can take my time with them and dont have to rush to get it done so I can drive at night.

Im thinking of doing something like the Morette headlights but with fog lights instead. Keeping the plastic housing on but putting some bright ass fogs in there and blacking them out maybe.

Doing this kind of stuff is very hard and may not be worth it unless you got tons of patience and time. Here's a link to my work on my headlights, taillights and other such lighting mods: http://josch.wilksfamily.com/HIDimages/HIDpage.htm

Maybe you can figure out some ideas from it?

Thats hott... You couldnt do both lights in the housing the same? I also like the idea behind the LED tail-lights. I actually have one of those LED bars. I was using it as a knight rider light... Yeah it was gay but it looked nice at night.

That might not work because the light bar was a running bar. But Im pretty sure I could hit up the Flea Market and try something similiar to that out. I was actually thinking of using a scanner light for my 3rd brake light. Do something where it starts from the middle and works its way out. Ill have to see what the wiring for one of em is like and see if I can wire that in.

I did the corner markers. Theyre white/blue LEDs and it looks nice as hell. Aso had to do the washer LEDs too. They work with the blinker and the side markers. Looks less rice like that.

Definetly gave me a few REALLY good ideas... God if it wasnt so expensive to do the Halo lights Id try that out. Dont really feel like dumping that much money into headlights alone.

Thanks everyone. Ive gotten some great ideas and a LOT of help. When I get done with everything (and win the damn Ebay bid on the headlights) Ill take pics and post the finished project. Give me some time and itll get done.

Yeah, I was thinking about doing the 3rd brakelight similar to how you mentioned, but by hooking up a multi-stage switch, or potentiometer on the brake pedal with a simple logic circuit, or else a series of pressure switches in the line or something set at different psi levels so I could make just the center part light up at light braking, then another row in the next set light up during moderate and then the rest on the ends would light up when you increase the brake pressure even more. So the lamp would light up center to ends based on how much pressure you applied to the brakes. I don't know if I'd ever get around to that project though? Been kinda busy at this point in my life

Also, the reason I didn't do anything to the highbeams, is because for me it's functionality before looks, and Contour highbeams on pre-'98s work AWESOME, and I didn't want to give up those to get better lowbeams. And you need that stock lense design to properly distribute the light from this type of parabolic fixture (putting a clear lense over the front would make the beam just turn into a very narrow 'spot' type beam that would be prettymuch unusable in any kind of driving situation.
