Sheesh I would be broke if I paid $98 for parts and labor just for a serp. belt. My car has gone through two since I've had my contour. The first was probably the original. The second, not sure, cuz it was rather new. My power steering line was leaking and it is located right above the belt. So I took it off after I replaced the line with one from the bone yard, and wiped off as much as I could sprayed it with ether and blew it off with an air hose. Could this have weakened the belt enough for it to break 4k miles later? Must have been a cheap belt. One thing I have noticed though, both belts broke in the middle. My tensioner seems to be off or something because the belt hangs off the tensioner slightly, about a third of the belt off and two thirds on. This isn't normal is it? That might be why they're breakin. Anyways if it is out of line, what's the easiest way to realign the tensioner? New one or is there a way to adjust it? Thanks everyone and take care.
