You don't mention mileage.

Both the serpentine belt and the timing belt should be replaced between 60,000-90,000 miles.

If the belt is original it is probably glazed and stiff. The timing belt may flap against the plastic cover, and the serpentine belt will tend to squeal.

Replace the belts if required, and check the tensioners also. You may just want to replace the tensioners to prevent future problems.
