I bought my wife am Fm modulated Sony 10-disc changer 4-5 years ago. About a year later I picked up a Sony CD controller HU and it made a huge difference in sound quality. Now the system is in the SVT. I had to replace the changer a couple weeks ago and checked that the connector was the same. Sony has a different plug on the FM modulated changer than just the plain changer. Dunno why. Same price, but I'm glad I checked it out.
Anyway, look at the connector of the changer going into the modulator unit. Then check out a HU at the store to see if it is the same.
