...but these cars are really a joy to drive.

My recent perspective came this weekend. I spent the weekend on Cape Cod (Awesome weekend! Hyannis...Chatham...Provincetown). We took my girlfriend's 2001 VW Cabriolet (It's a convertable and she wanted to put the top down...whatever); 5-spd.

The car drives nice enough...but it's not a Contour.

The transmission was a nightmare too. Reverse was up and to the left! Freaked me out...

Talk about hard to get into gear! Made me feel like I was driving an old truck...with a hydraulic clutch. Gotta lift your leg halfway to your chin.

Anyway, my point is that most of us may pi$$ & moan about our cars from time to time (or more), but in perspective, it's still a far better driving car than most on the road.

It's good to re-learn that point every once in a while.
