IMHO, I really don't think bucking and missing should be grouped together.
Missing is just, well, missing. An intermitant lack of power, maybe causing acceleration to "stutter". This is usually caused by some part of the the ignition system.
Bucking makes the car lurch, sometimes violently.
Bucking can be from many areas.
- Bad engine mounts.
- Severe fuel problem.
- Bad sensor or sensor data.
- Automatic transmission problem.
- Clutch problem.
- Static timing problem (Zetec).
If it's caused by the engine control system, the A/F is usually fluxuating wildly.
Just to start to diagnose the cause of bucking,
you must know enough to guess which type of problem it is.
