Hi people. Thought I could ask for your guru advice. I like Sony Xplod ES CDX-M750. I mean I like the way it looks with its X-Files style motorized panel that slides down and forward. I'm concerned though if that panel when slid down will get in the way of gear shifting. Has anyone had experience with this kind of deck? And what's your opinion on this deck music-wise? Also, as bizarre as it sounds Sony.com site doesn't provide ANY information on their car audio products. I browsed all over the place. Everthing is there - TVs, walkmen, all kinds of **** except for car audio stuff. Any clue where they buried that?
Thanks, Blue 98 SE MTX CTEPBA

Whats up
I have the cdx-m650 which has the exact same face as the 750. It does NOT get in the way of my MTX Manual shifter. I thought that it would but i installed it anyway and its completely out of the way when the face folds down and i'm in any forward gear (1,3,5). I enjoy the hell out of this radio at night and it blows everyone's mind when I use the remote to fold it down and another screen pops out. Go for it. You won't be sorry.

Mossberg, thanks for reassuring me. I like that thing! Damn boys never grow up. It's just their toys prices that grow:-)
Now mind if I ask couple more questions? 1. Does it have an aux input? My wife is gonna miss the cassette deck because she's got a lot of her stuff on cassettes. I was thinking of providing a jack for her cassette walkman (like I mess with a CD walkman and an adapter now). I'm an electronics geek so pulling out a connector is no problem if there's an extra input. I wouldn't ask this question if I had a full spec from Sony. But Sony probably believes it's a classified information. Or, do you have a spec in a file or a link to it somewhere on the net? I'd greatly appreciate it if you e-mailed the spec to me (nomad_rules@hotmail.com) or revealed an URL to it.
2. Where would you recommend to buy the deck?
3. What speakers would you recommend?
Big thanks pal

i don't have a mtx but it's no where near in the way of the shifter. Anyway have you ever considered getting a cassette deck with md/cd controller? that's what i got so i can play my old tapes and md's i'm not sure about the speakers tho. I'm goin get new ones this week. 6x8 is a strange size so i'd like to see what other ppl recommend to you as well. 6x9, 5x7, 5 1/4, 6 1/2

It has an input for a cd changer, md changer, or tv, which is a standard rca jack but it is in the back of the radio. You could reach it by running a cord to the back of the radio through the glove box (which is where my md changer is) and leave the cord in the glove box. When you want to plug in the cassette or whatever you are using, just open the glove box and plug it in to the cord. This might work. You are right, Sony's webpage is bull sh!t. Whatever you do, don't go to best buy or circuit city. You will get poked in the ass on price and sh!tty installation. You can buy it for a rock bottom price at www.sbhcorp.com i think. I installed my deck myself as well as my minidisc changer, amps and subwoofer. This deck is easy as hell to install. All you need is to buy a ford harness and follow the color codes of the wires. As far as speakers i would recommend, I would need to know your listening tastes. For bass I would go with the Cerwin vega 5x7/6x8. For sound quality go with the infinity 5x7/6x8. The pioneers 6x8 didn't impress me that much. They sounded dry to me. I am about to install separates from MB Quartz in the front and maybe some 6x9s (with a little adjustment) for rear fill. That will go nice along with my two 12" Kicker XPLs. These things thunder! [This message has been edited by Mossberg (edited August 01, 2000).]

my taste of music really varies. I need bass that's for sure. I listen to Techno/Trance mainly. Ppl like DJ Tiesto, Paul Oakenfold, Ferry Corsten, Trance Allstars Etc...

I agree with Mossberg. I have the CDX-M600. I love it. No prob with the shifter. And EVERONE is blown away by the display! I got Polk Audio EX II's (5x7). Sound good to me.

I figured those motorized units would break, and sure enough a few weeks after they came in, I noticed the Sony display unit was broken. So I got the 7050 instead. No built in equalizer, but it also cost $60 less (I paid $211 locally and it's priced about the same on www.carmedia1.com). BTW, Polk dx7 3way 5x7's are only about $102 and sound very good.
