Funny, I always wondered why MI homeowners used concrete for driveways. The norm here (400 miles east) seems to be asphalt, I think we have more asphalt roads as well, so climate is not the rationale. Maybe a local preference or material cost/availability, don't know.

My own is asphalt, done in '79 and now needs replacement; 20-25yrs seems the usual for homeowners, 30-35yrs for local roads which start with a better quality.

Pros and cons seem to be covered above so assuming cost diff minor it's probably personal preference.
