bigger injectors and a mopar performance PCM (replaces stock PCM), the next 2 stages will just involve a flash of the PCM instead of a new one.

When RX-8s have just hit dealers, how many will already be spoken for? Won't dealers be gouging on them TALL TIME?! Are you sure you're going to be able to get a test drive?
Then again, I have no experience shopping new, hot models. Just thought I'd bring up the issue...

True! Pull up in an SLK or a Boxter and the salesperson/management KNOWS you can afford one.
Might be a problem if they've got the, "Keep it under 25 RPM, okay?" attitude.
Oh, and screw the used luxury car idea IMHO, unless you're talking about a MTX BMW.

Yeah, I plan on calling the dealership where my g/f bought her Protege from and see if they can call me when the first RX-8s come in, and get a test drive before they're sold. I have no problem waiting a few months until demand dies down somewhat, as I'd like to use my S-plan on it, if possible. However, when I come across deals like this, it gets hard to wait: http://www.autotrader.com/findacar/vdetail.jtmpl?car_id=134611722And that's actually a tad on the high side.. I've found quite a few closer to $30K. Not many coupes for sale though, which is what I'm actually looking for. Also found a bunch of SC400s for well under $20K. The used car market has never looked so good.

There are many good deals in used cars. I have found for under $30k (my cap)
'01 S4 (27k) XJR, XJ8 MB E430 BMW 740i Audi A8
You might want to consider a Forester Turbo for a new car. 25k, mid 13's and one hell of a sleeper.

Agreed, although I'd still rather have a WRX, unless I needed the extra space the Forester offers.
An 01 S4 would rock (long as it's the 6spd), but I'd die of boredom owning a pure luxury car. Gimme three pedals and some handling...

I'm curious. Where do you get mid 13's for the turbo Forester? Most auto rags are claiming 0-60 ~8sec. Its heavier than the WRX, with less power....how do you thik its going to be quicker?
Unless your talking modded, then yes, you would have a hella cool sleeper.
Very few of life's problems can not be solved with the reasonable application of more horsepower!
