The max benefits in NJ are somewhere around $420 a week in NJ for unemployment. Benefits run out after 6 months. If you think Cartman can afford a Boxster, a mortgage, a home theatre, and whatever other toys he has on that kind of payout, then I'm moving back to NJ.

NJ bumped it up to $482/wk now, not that it makes that big of a difference.. Still a far cry from the $2K/wk I used to get..

you guys are being dicks, he's looking for a job, who cares? This was a post about a beater daily driver, and yes, for most of us, an RX8 is hardly a beater, but if I had a boxster and an slk in the garage, the mazda will take beater status for sure. . . .

Here's the thing.. $24K gets you a 300HP FWD SRT-4. $31K gets you a 271HP AWD Evo. Evo also has sky high insurance, and a pretty brutal suspension. (I'd be daily driving the car, so the suspension is something to consider) I'm considering the SRT because it's $7K less, cheaper to insure, and probably faster since power's not being sapped by the AWD. But I do like the AWD factor for the winters we get here. And neither one is too stellar interior-wise. See my dilemna?
The RX-8 just OOZES sex appeal. I fell in love with it when I saw it at the auto show. If it drives as good as it looks, I'm sold. My only issue then would be which color, red or silver?
My parents think I'm retarded, and like the used luxury car idea, especially since used car prices are at an all-time low. There's something nice about driving a $70K car, even if it only cost me $32K.
Sorry the 300HP Neon would not be faster than the EVO. I saw one race over the weekend and guess what?....all wheelspin in first into second! The EVO would be gone by then!

It's still unproven at this point since stage 3 is not available, however, wheelspin is a sign of a bad or unexperienced driver. I have two buddy's that have recently purchased Evo's and have yet to get either one to race me, I'm stage 0 with a BC though, for me stage 1 is only 2 weeks away!!!

A 97+ Jag would in fact give me reliability. Once Ford took over, quality rose considerably (not including the X-type).
As I was just telling Hydro, the G35C is still a possibility.. But that RX8 video from this morning is making it really tough to think straight!

Still you will get some wheelspin regardless. The EVO with mods still doesn't spin wheels. I think at this point it would be a toss up. I'd just rather have an EVO.

You're right. Even the perfect launch is gonna chrip the tires, I know this because I've got that locked know. The evo is indeed a fine automobile, except for one of the guys I know that owns one (who coincidentally traded his contour SE that could hang with my SVT) had to lemonlaw his first Evo due to a MAJOR synchro issue. That and they don't come stock with a damn boost gauge, which is BS IMO.
AWD is badass, I wish my srt had it, but alas for the 10K I saved I can buy a quaife and install much more easily that I did in my contour due to the differential being mounted externally (within a smaller houseing)on the tranny case.

ATL, what exactly is in the Stage 1 package? You get quite a considerable gain for such a low price.
