Hi Folks...

Since my second try at e-testing (passed this time), the 'tour is throwing TC/ABS codes on a pretty regular basis (once a day?). At least I assume it's throwing codes - The TC and ABS lights will eventually come on and stay that way until the car is stopped and restarted. I've seen similar symptoms caused by a sticky parking break cable, but don't think that's the problem this time 'round.

Anyone have access to a scan tool that will read TC/ABS codes?

Cheers,

Well I'd assume that it is unrelated to your E-test. Sounds more like a faulty sensor to me. The ABS/TC are closely related at least on earlier models as the TC uses the brakes to assist its function. As you've said it clears up after the car is restarted. If you have a MTX maybe tyr this. While there is no one around on say a long down hill put the car in nuetral when it exhibits its symptoms. Turn the car off and coast for a minute and then restart the car. If the light goes away then it really does sound like a sensor to me. If it is still there it is more probable that it is mechanical perhaps going away when something resaets itself in park. As well if you haven't already done so you may wish to post in the Troubleshooting section.

I made the link to the ETest 'cause I had the same problem after my first test, but it had "gone away" at some point between then and now. FWIW, the battery died between these two tests, which, I suspect, would have reset the ECU/ABS/TC brain a bit more completely than the Key-On/Key-Off cycle. Anyway, the problem (TC/ABS lights on) came back as I was driving away from the test center, after a couple of months w/o any troubles. Could still be just coincidence though I guess.

It's an ATX, but just stopping the car as soon as the light comes on, then restarting it will reset the lights (I've had them come on before I'm out of the parking garage at work).

I'll do so, just thought I'd start here in case anyone else had seen this, post ETest...

Man, it's a real pisser that my code scanner can't pull these buggers

Thanks again for the comments.

Whenever the front wheels rotate at a substantially different speed from the back wheels for a prolonged period (as would happen during an e-test), the ABS warning light will be lit. It takes, I believe, 10 start/stop running cycles to cancel the warning light.

That is interesting and makes good sense. I don't recall this happening on mine though but still. I'd give it a little time and see if it does go away.

Thanks ABCarr & Mbb41!

I'll just wait and see (none so far today) for now.

Hi Folks...

For what it's worth, it seems to have stopped complaining now. If felt like it took more like 10 days than 10 start/stop cycles, but it does seem to be gone.
