I plan on changing the oil soon after i put everything back together should i put injector cleaner in before i change the oil, or doesn't it matter?
also ford gave me this gasket for the TB... but maybe its for a post98? (original is on the left)
looks like the tb gasket for the 3L tb.

They're going to be rusted. Soak them a day ahead in WD-40.

yes, but these are pretty bad. what if i break one of them? i'd have to drop the engine? so i'm just going to take out the o2's so i don't damage any of them, tape a vacuum hose up there while i'm working and make sure I get everything out.
also while i have the y-pipe off i'd like to modify it but the how-to is kind of confusing... anyone have some pictures?

You'd strip the sides off of the nut before you'd break a stud(no pun intended). The block is aluminum and the studs are steel. They're not going to sieze together as badly as steel on steel. If you don't want to take them off then you shouldn't do the manifolds. Yes, people have done it without taking off the manifolds and haven't had any problems, but there have been people that have had to replace their engines because of this. This isn't the way you want to do a 3L swap.

alright, I can get to all the bolts except the 3 on top of the rear manifold... If i take the passenger side wheel off i don't see how it will help me get to them, but i'll do it if you say it will also how much are new gaskets?

got the front one off..
rear precat:
I have the front passenger side wheel off, but i still don't see how to get the top bolts out. can i move the alternator without taking the belt off?
update: found this in archives and i can see this working more than removing the alternator. so i'm really just working in the dark on the top 3 bolts right?

also now that i have the front one off, how do I 'do it right'. just slice it open from the middle instead of the bottom?

ok seems like i'm just talking to myself here, but I managed to get everything off and gutted. so hopefully my last question is: when making MILs, does the polarity matter on the tantalum capacitor?
