That is a good way to scratch up the reflective coating inside your housing. It also sounds like you got a set that the reflectors were not molded in very well. Mine were in there, and there was no way just taking a screwdriver would have gotten them out. I would be most concerned about the scratches though.
No,see, you TAPE the end of the screwdriver up heavily, and the inside does not get scratched. As for the tabs on the refelctor, yes, they were molded in there well, I was just more determined than they were.

i was talking with a friend of mine about doing this, and he asked if it was illegal to remove those tabs. Is it, at least, in anyone's state on here?

As long as you keep a yellow bulb in there I do not see why there would be a problem.

There was something on this quite awhile back. I believe there is a law that states you must have an orange reflector somewhere on the front of the car. But I don't think it's really a law taken seriously by police officers unless you're acting like an idiot and they're looking for that extra little think to urk you.
