Dan,
I agree to a point, but I do think there will be a number of conservatives who hang their pride on the CIC and not just on America.
Heck, you don't have 100% of conservatives proud right now.
I do think it does tell us that in very general terms a conservative is probably more proud to be an American than a liberal. But you can't extrapolate from this that all conservatives are patriotic and all liberals are not. Heck, you can even say that most liberals are also proud to be Americans.
What troubles me are the large numbers of people who are not proud to be Americans. Even if they are in the minority, what is it they want. Do they want the "Workers Paradise" here in America, or do they think they would rather be a citizen of another nation?
On to the question, someone above said it was vague or something to that effect. Well, I think if you are trying to capture a feeling, you have to be somewhat vague. Simply put, are you proud, extremely proud, etc. What is your gut reaction, answer quickly.
No contrived hypothetical situations that you need to decide the outcome, just tell us how you feel.
I do think it is a recurrent poll, so let me see if I can find other data for other years.
