I don't know any better. I have no other country to compare to as I've only lived here. It's difficult to relate to other countries and how life is for people in them without experiencing it first hand and only going by what is heard in the news. I guess I can say I enjoy being ignorant and taken care of, therefore proud to be American. as far as responding to the poll. Reading that made me Statistics mean nothing to me, especially with how easy it is to manipulate them.

I think all polls are bull$hit. I have yet to see one that doesn't contain leading questions. Personally, saying I'm "100% proud" of my country implies that I wouldn't change anything, which is not the case. Make of that what you will

don't u guys know anything about how human beings are ??
You don't have to know anywhere else. there is no need for comparisson.
We are all built like that. everybody is proud of their heritage. Of cours, when I say everybody that is not a LAW. some people are discontent and they simply hate. Others simply don't care. Whatever the reason. I am talking in general.
just as an example:
has anyone here ever met a Puerto Rican (sp ??) that wasn't patriot ??
How about a mexican ??
how about a jamaican ??
(not that there aren't)
But the point is: everybody loves their people, place, or whatever is the connection. Again, when I say EVERYBODY i mean in general.
My point is: u go anywhere in the world and place ths same question and you'll get almost the same results.
even if you post question in Venezuela or Argentina, where things are a little rough right now, you will probably get the same answer: they are proud to be whatever.

Native Americans were very proud to be "American" as well before the land was even designated "America" and before they discovered that it was, in fact, the white man's land.
Some thought should be given about who suffered the most before expressing pride in your nationality.

If we only focus on the bad things that have happened then we will have a negative outlook.
That is not to say that we shouldn't examine our mistakes and learn from them, but I guess I'm a glass is half full kinda guy and like to focus on the positive.
And that kinda goes into how I look at the numbers. Of course I'm sure part of it has to do with who is in the White House. Conservatives are largely happy and Liberals are largely unhappy. My gut tells me that Conservatives may not be as "proud" if the occupant of the White House was different.
I do also believe 9/11 has a lot to do with the upsurge in American Pride.
I'll have to add to this later, I have an conference call to join, and I guess I need to know what we are talking about.
