Now if some turbo'd 3L with a Torsen, 4.06 FD, and a adept clutch foot tried slipping 2nd gear from 5000-6000rpm and not be pissed off at me for shattering the stock cast flywheel would give it a try we may all see what would then happen.

The short story.

Except for maybe a turbo'd car, no one is going to have enough torque to get the car moving fast enough before the engine bogs down badly.
Even then it would be one hell of a clutch slip.

I tried a couple of 2nd gear launches and it looks like its feasible with a high enough slip to get the speed up. I tried letting out the car with a 3000 rpm fast slip and it broke traction, caught and then bogged a little.
I tried a 4000 rpm slip and it got rolling pretty smooth and no wheelspin, but still dropped out of boost a little.
Looks like you are right with a 5000 rpm slip range will probably get it rolling enough so it doesn't bog too low. The natural torque of the 3L helps it get rolling, but if it bogs down below 3K it will be out of boost and take-off slow.
It can't be any worse then spinning all the way through 1st and halfway through second gear though!
