Do I need to dig up an SA rated helmet, or is my Snell M90 good enough for there.
I need to get a new helmet soon anyway, just needed to know if I should get a Snell M2000 or SA2000.
Didn't see anything on the website that helped.

M is specifically for motorcycle racing.
SA is "special applications" which translates into auto-racing.
I believe the M90 is out of date.. I think helmets are only good for one generarion back from current. Which happens to now be m2000 or sa2000
I'd say get the new one.

Well, I know I need a good one, since when the 2005 helmet standards come out SCCA will not let me AutoX.
The question is, do I need to get an SA helmet ~$270 or an M2000 open face helmet, ~$75 for a SNELL rated helmet.

Well, my club allows autocrossing with M90, so Gingerman might also still allow this.
It will likely be outdated next year, but we need to find out for sure. I currently do not have it in my budget to get a new helmet this year.
If I get a chance tomorrow, I'll try to call Bob Gilroy (of Gingerman) at 616-253-4445. They should have the final word on helmet requirements.

It appears you need SA90 or better according to the links returned by a google.com search of Gingerman and Helmet. http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=gingerman+helmet TB

I wounder if my LS Airtech snowmobile helmet would be sufficent. It'll be hot, but its a helmet. If its acceptable I'll just remove the breath deflector and the visor.

I got mine from Summit for about $300. http://www.helmetcity.com/ is another good place to look. I'd get a SA rated helmet I don't ride motorcycles
