I was just thinking about the people w/ true dual systems and how they've had pulse matching (and hence balance pipe placement) problems.
What if the rear bank's piping included that 180 bend in it? Would that make it easier to pulse match, and hence easier to place an equalizer pipe between the two pipes? Most importantly, would this be benefitial or would it just be extra piping?

Hmmm... 50 viewings, and no replies. I think True Bendz should try it out and see what setup gives the best hp/tq.

where would you put your bend? It would have to be early enough to have room to match the pulses but then you don't have as much room up front. There is also the problem of number of bends in one pipe reducing flow as compared to the other pipe with less bends. This may defeat the purpose of the true duals. I think we need some true-duals before and after dyno tests first.

I quickly drew up what I'm thinking might help match the pulses. Note: 1) I'm no artist, 2) this took 25 sec to draw.
Click here to see what I'm talkin' about
It's basically retaining the stock ypipe design, but you just don't let the two pipes join together. Does that make sense?
So, with a picture to help people visualize, what do people think? Would it be benefitial? Would it help the pulses match, so one could put a balance pipe in? Is a balance pipe that benefitial that one would want to go through this hassle?

From what I gather, you only need about 2" pipe for duals. DemonSVT said there is plenty of room to run the front bank straight back and under the pan as along as you use header wrap.
FWIW, your rear bank would still be too short. You need to cut it left as there is room in that direction under the car then turn it back into the center; run the front bank straight back goihg under the pan. By running the front bank straight back then you can use two smaller bends to get the extra length on the rear bank. That would give you plenty of room to find the exhaust pulses I think.

Yeah, though don't be concerned which pipe goes down which side. In the 2-D drawing you have a small radius bend on the rear bank so it won't cross or touch the front bank pipe. The diameter is small enough and there is room enough that you can use a larger radius turn and cross over the other pipe to insure smooth transitions. But that pretty much sums up how I envision approaching it IF it proves worthwhile to put in a crossover pipe.

...who's going to go through the R&D to prove whether it's benefitial or not?

I did???
I routed my front bank pipe pretty much like the stock unit. There is not much room it can go through. Yes it's the shortest route with the smallest bends though.
Yes it's wrapped. (both are) IMO a MUST!!!
The rear bank just goes straight back.
On my exhaust setup with the wrap I get the pulses about 3" a part. (It would have to be 1st & 2nd pulse respectively I'd think)
One of these days I am going to get off my lazy ass and do something about it too. Like add the balance pipe.

You are!
Demon: I thought you'd said there was room to run the 2" under the pan; maybe I got confused with the Chris and the streetflight kit since their pipe runs right under it.
