I pulled my motor and Trans from the Top No Problem. Had It back In the Same Day. Your Best bet Is to Buy an Engine Hoist So you have Plenty of Time To work With It. I brought One from Harbor Freight for $200 with free shipping.

Well, I thought he said that he could not get his out at the same time. Oh well, at least you was able to so that means that it is possible.

I took my motor and tranny both out through the top. It's tight and takes patience but it's the way to go.

OK so now itā??s my turn to figure out what to do.

I need to change my torque converter. V6/ATX. I want to come out from the top as the procedure for dropping the sub frame is too much work for the driveway. It sounds like it would be easier to pull just the motor and leave the tranny in place. That way, I donā??t have to pull the half shafts.

What do you guys think?

Oh, Unisys12,
I replaced the valve body with a rebuilt (CD4E SK JR installed) and my FWD and reverse line pressures are now in spec 50-65PSI. (Used to be 25-30 for drive). Shifting is great and now the TC is locking. However, at higher speeds I have a noticeable (slip) and I get TCC slip code 1744. At 50 MPH I have about a 30 RPM difference in between the engine a turbine shaft, At 70 MPH its about 300 RPM.

Before the VB change I didnā??t get any TC lock-up.

I plan the change the TC

I also found a thin slice of copper in the bottom side of the tranny. I assume itā??s from the TC clutch pack.

Great to hear of your progress!

I would think that if all your going to do is install a new TQ, you could do it easily by only removing the enigne. That would allow for plenty of room for you to work in front of the tranny. And yes, a whole lot easier then dropping the subframe.

You really would not even need to pull the tranny out. Just pull the enigne, hop in, pull the old TC, install the new one & drop the engine back in.

Sounds like a plan to me!
