I've been thinking about fixing up my Contour when this guy calls me and says he has a 73 Challenger with a 340/727 combo for sale for $1500. Now at that price I knew there were some problems but I REALLY love those old Dodges . Come to find out this guy has a few thousand into the car but him and his wife just had their first child and they are about to leave the island in a month to move to the mainland. He wants it to go to a good home and he owes $1500 on the loan. It needs a harmonic balancer and some lights for the rear tag and a new ignition switch. Minor rust repair. I guess the Contour will have to wait another 5 months.
98 SE Sport. custom catback, Intrax springs, 3L, 3L valves, APEXi S-AFC, 24# injectors.
Other cars:
72 Challenger 360 motor 727 trans (used for parts)
73 Challenger 340 motor 727 trans 15.60 1/4 with bad miss and clogged fuel filter.

Nice car. I used to have a 71 'Cuda with a 340/4bbl, auto slap-stick, 323 posi in the rear end, rally package (including gauges and wheels) and a shaker scoop. It even had the original cassette player mounted in a pod type of thing on the center console. Black on black. Absolutely awesome and I regret the day I sold it. Jonnie

When i read the title, i thought you were talking about the late 80's/early 90's challengers.... i was gonna cry to think that you had bought 2 of them
But nice find either way!!

A good buddy of mine had a '70 Challenger with the 318 engine back when he and I were running the streets (early 70's). Although I'm definitely a Ford man, I always thought his bright red Challenger was a darned nice looking car, and I know he regretted trading it off for something more "practical" after he got married. I drove it a few times (after we were out partying and he had too much to drink), and I wouldn't have minded having one myself.

My dad was a HUGE car fanatic (hence what happened to me ), and we still have a few of the musclecars. One of them is this '70 Challenger with a 385 h.p. 360c.i.d. crate motor tied to a 727 with slap-stik automatic, and a full resto, inside and out. -Tavis

If that car was yellow and had solid centerlines on it then it would be a dead ringer for the one I just got. BTW the fuel pump and lines and tank are F'ed. Luckily the pump was so clogged none of the junk got to the motor. There were two brand new filters on the car see through style. One before the pump and one after the pump, along with the filter in the carb. The carb filter was fine as was the one after the pump. The filter before the pump and red sludge in it. I had to blow REALLY hard to get anything out. I have the new parts just have to put them on. It will scream when you pour fuel into the carb bowls. Can't wait to drive it.
