My is like that also. The black one is actualy a plastic cover. The wireing to the reverse and plate lights are in their.

I believe it's a plastic conver wher the wires are rae ran for the reverse and licence plate lights. They also get a fancy black cover to cover the reverse lights. Thie trunks look so muck cleaner with all the trim.

lol i'm thinking of switchign to the pre tour trunk and then redoign my grill so that away it has no mercury symbol on it on the front of the rear
