You're right about what??

I don't see why you're up in arms. All I did was disagree with you. Get used to it, kid.

I havent seen many hard rock or heavy metal bands names go down. My favorites have to be slipknot mudvayne nirvana and tool. Old metallica is good but their new cd isnt that great. i mean there are no solos and they are trying to sound like linkin park and linkin park sucks

I know I'm a little late joining this conversation, but I think it's WAAAAY too broad of a statement to call a band "the best band."
For example - I generally dislike the Beatles. I think too much their music is poppy, meaningless, and fruity sounding. Granted, they wrote some awesome songs like blackbird, in my life, imagine, etc. That said, they were awesome performers, and they played well together. They are among the most influential bands, even though their music was incredibly simple. Good performers, good musicians, weak music, still a good band.

My criteria for a good band can vary. I like talent, originality, complexity, and lyrics. On the otherhand, I also enjoy a song that I can tap my feet to.

Here are the bands that frequent my CD player (in no particular order):
Tool
Dave Matthews Band
Old '97s
Johnny Cash
Radiohead
Grateful Dead
Zepplin
Pink Floyd
Blind Melon
Incubus
Deftones
Henry Rollins Band (mostly his spoken word)
Coldplay
Bob Dylan
The Band
Alkaline Trio

...and more...much much more

Can you tell music is a big part of my life?

"What did you think about that Dorothy girl?" "The whole Judy Garland thing kinda turned me on. That doesn't make me some sort of fag does it? "Nah baby, your money." 98 Black SVT #3560 of 6535

I don't like Dave, either. He's an amazing guitar player, but the ONLY songs of his I enjoy are "Don't Drink the Water," "Grey Street," and his rendition of "All Along the Watchtower."

I think Dave and his entire band are extremely talented. If people don't like him, that's fine. As long as they recognize his talent.
I hate how his shows are filled with big-tittied bimbos and the accompanying frat boys looking to sack the bimbos, but I'll live with that. Otherwise, they've got a lot going for them - talent, good live performers, original music, original and very distinctive sound. They can always pull a cover off, too.
That's just my opinion.

One thing I didn't mention in my last post: I respect a lot of different types of music, though much of it isn't to my taste. I cannot respect musicians who have bland, meaningless music. Particularly 1) radio pop/hip-hop/crap 2)rap. 1) Anything that's overproduced is awful in my opinion. Britteny Spears? Great voice, terribly unemotional music. There are so many people making music to make money. 2) Oh, as far as rap goes - if you have to rap about how much money you make, how many babes you bag, how big the wheels on your car are...you're a pathetic looser IMHO. I can't believe so many people enjoy that shite! I don't dislike all rap, but I enjoy occasional hip-hop more than rap. I good rhyme is always pleasing to the ear.

i guess you can say that they do have the talent, the only reason i don't like them is b/c they sound to Hooty-ish, meaning that to me most of theit songs sound the same as far as beats and they way he sings. but talent, i'll give you that...
