I have 98 Contour with a blown motor. I want to replace the stock 2.0 with something stronger... What would be the best way to go?

I know there are the 2.5's and the 3.0L swap... but are there any more options?.... of the 3 I listed which is best?

Any input would be great...

Thanks

Replacing it with a Zetec is your only option unless you plan to buy a donor car to supply the parts needed to swap to a Duratec engine!

IIRC the SVT focus is a Zetec, I'm not certain it can be done, but you may be able to swap the motor from that.

Thats fine... but can I find a Zetec out of anything else? Just so I have a better chance at finding one...?

the only cars that have zetec engines are the contour, focus, and I THINK the zx2

the zx2 mos def has a zetec 130 rated hp vs. 125 for the contour zetec i believe

the svt zetec would be the way to go imo but i dont know if its actually a doable mod and the cost of the engine would prolly be waaaay too much

oh and be careful choosing a version of the engine...i think its the escort zetec that only has 110 rated hp

zx2, zx3, the 'pewwwma' but that's not here, and um, i guess thats it. btw, for the V6 you just need the front end pieces, like the front frame part and the suspension.. not that hard.

Entire subframe, both wiring harnesses, all of the sensors, engine & tranny, all the mounts - engine, tranny, and frame brackets, axles, intermediate shaft, all the accessories... The list goes on...
