I already researched what type of short throw shifters are available for the contour svt, and found the B & M shifter for a little over $130. I noticed one on ebay for $32, and compared the two. They're not exactly the same, but fairly close. Here is a link to one of the auctions...

Ebay short throw shifter

Give me your opinion on the shifter and let me know if its worth goin with the cheaper one and saving the bucks for a different mod. Thanks.

most people who have gone the cheap route have had their shifters break...i would avoid them..mainly obx,and that ebay one...stick with a name brand, such as the b&m,or i highly reccomend the steeda,if you can do the mods required to use it....

I've had the B&M on my car for a little over 2 years now. No problems with the install or usage of it so far.

The B&M is worthwhile mod...it works very well, looks classy, and is very stout. It also has a warranty....not that you will ever need it. I'm very happy w/ mine.

If you don't like it, I guarantee you will find a buyer for it on CEG.

$130.00 for the b & m is a good price. they show up once in a while on ebay, but usually sell for that much or more. I love mine, but never cared for the aluminum knob they included, I would budget a little extra money for a better knob

I have a shifter i got off of ebay and it was from RVM. total cost for the shifter and shipping was around $62. Very good quality shifter and easy instalation. No problems with it so far! It looks somewhat like the B&M shifter, perhaps a replica? But from a different brand? Anyways keep your eye out for this shifter.

Not the same.

The B&M changes the throw (length & angle) below the fulcrum point. More travel below with less needed above (I.E. a shorter throw)

so wait.. the B&M does it too? I was under the impression that the OBX and BM were simply just shorter shafts.. and the steeda was the shifter that was actually shorter below the fulcrum point?
