the '99's may have the improved waterpump...I know Ford changed the composition of the impeller around the 1999 model year. I have a '99 Mystique with over 98,000 miles on it and no problems. I've asked two different dealers about their experience with water pump problems and both denied ever hearing about any unusual problems. I asked the dealer if I should replace my water pump when I did the 90,000 mile service and he looked at me like I was crazy. So I guess I'll live with it a few thousand more miles.
