In response to RogerB:
In all actuality, its not the artists who are complaining (on the majority). Artists don't see shitte from record sales, they make money off of concerts and merchandising. I know this doesn't change the situation, but instead of the artists bitching its the record labels who aren't making the money.
And another thing that I noticed while reading the paper today, it said that the RIAA is using as evidence for the cause the fact that record sales are down a little over 1 million compared to 5 years ago. Hmm, maybe things change with time, just like an economy. I just think that part of their arguement is flawed.

And yet, it is their absolute right, in a capitalist society, to earn as much as they can.
Who would you want to tell you when you've earned enough?
Many criminals want to earn as much money as they can, do they have a right to that crime as well.
IMO, it's not just musicians who make too much money, there are a lot of people out there who don't deserve the millions they make.

For all those using this programs, you may want to check for viruses. The WORMS are out to get you. If you need a virus scanner, is a good online one and its free, but does not always protect... http://housecall.trendmicro.com/

what are they going to do ???
apparently they (the music industry) is tired of all the illegal cd's burned and are going to start to go after people. it's weird though, b/c how can they prove that you burned the cd from a place like Kazaa? i have it on at work and i just listen to the songs, i don't burn them (at least not here anyways ) then what about people who record songs off the radio, they should get them too right? are we talking about the same thing
im thinking that whats gonna happen is that 'they' are going to go after your folders the same way peple on kazaa and other sites can more or less look into your folders....the people uploading and downloading the most songs will be spotted and they'll go after them
my solution is to get a burner and get the songs on cd and OFF the harddrive altogether as u gather them...it means u wont be sharing but it may mean u wont get caught
now i'll go on and read the rest of the posts and see just how misguided i am

I just have no problem with stealing from the music industry. I don't care if it's ethical or not, I just think most of those sons of [censored] have enough money.

No it's not illegal. But the burning software has a notice on it that your not supposed to use it for copyrighted material. Except for making backups of stuff you own.

I buy CD's as well, but only after I have sampled the artists work via MP3s. I am noticing more and more that the quality of the mass majority of MP3s online is rather poor. I also take offense to artists making one or two good singles to catch the publics attention then bloating the rest of the CD with absolute crap and I end up ripping the two goods songs to MP3 and then mixing them onto a CD. I honestly cant wait until Apple releases iTunes for PC so that I can use it with my PC iPod and just pay $1.00 per song that I like and get a copy that I can have on my PC or my iPod. That way the artists make about the same ammount per song, I just dont have to buy the bloat.
