Even if "artistically" vapid, it is still the artist's right (unless expressly waived) to maintain control over their intellectual as well as physical property.

Which is fine as long as the artist has granted permission. Many new artists are getting exposure on the internet that they would never have gotten via the traditional "record company" methods.

But on everything else, yes you are right...there are exceptions to every rule when it comes to copy rigths, but what gets me, form the research i ahve done, the only people they go after duing the VHS/cd or software craz were people with thousands of pirate videos not the small people that give one to friends or family...And the Music industry is talking about going after everyone, including the people that make copies for freinds and family.....it just seems kinda wrong to me that they would single people out like that....almost like there making the stereo type that music burners are worse than other type of copywriteres.....True I guess they have to go after the Media the have the most control of, but from the info i have been told/ read it just seems that way.
