"The gay and lesbian community does constantly advocate and lobby for the religious marriage sanctioned and approved by Church. I completely agree that people should have freedom of choice in their matrimonial arrangements, which, probably, should include the gay and lesbian marriages confirmed by the civic institutions; however, isnâ??t it utterly paradoxical, if not outright hypocritical, that people who violate one of the religious laws, â??You shall not lie with a male as with a woman; it is an abomination,â?? still want to assure they enjoy a religiously sanctioned approval?"
Just an excerpt from my ENG101 essay. LOL. Can't come with anything else b/c of the 101 degree heat and the A/C doesn't actually reach the loft where the comp is.
Anywayz. Let's for a moment forget there are other (than Christian) religious groups in America. Let's say America is Christian. Now, here comes the question what "Christian" denomination you are referring to? There are Catholics, Protestants and Baptists, there are other minor groups, cults and whatnot. Now, for somebody who is familiar with the history of our contry as well as with the history of inter-Christian relations, there is the fact to remember that Protestants hated Catholics and considred them as Papal traitors all the way dating back to the first days of early pilligrims. Now, the Catholics always viewed Protestants as heretics. Each of the Churches has its own doctrine on homosexuality, so which one should we adopt - the question is addressed to the guy who thinks that the separation between religion and government was a mistake. This separation is the only reason America stayed free for hundreds of years, and never had the bloodshed and killings committed in the name of God. Think of Nortern Ireland - not only we are talking about the same Christian beliefs, but we are talking about the same ethnicity, yet the hatred and terror never stops there and never will.
When we think about Fathers Founders and their referrences to God - it was the ONLY way of life back then. Everyone was religious, at least outwardly. Using that as justification to alleged religious foundation of America is simply historically and factishly incorrect.
