If church and state wern't seperate, whos (Christian) view would be used to rule the country? There are plenty of different views even on the same type of religion. Arent divorces harder to come by in the Catholic religion? You think its hard for America to accept homosexuality, think of what we would have to be dealing with had all other religions been outlawed because they wern't the same. I think in Static's country terrorisim wouldnt be something of media intrest, it would be the holy war and religious persecution. Think of the headlines on the paper when it becomes known that the Jonses are Buddhist!! The horror!
And after we do get legal unions how long do you actually think its going to take before they are just called marriages? I give it five, maybe ten years at the most. Either of the groom's (or the brides) family is still going to call it what it is. They are going to be happy and excited when they are telling their friends about their sons or daughters marriage. When was the last time you heard a hetero family calling their wedding a union?
