The Supreme Court ruling and a legal stance on gay marriage needs to remain within the parameters government and our Constitution. Placing government in a position to enforce morals, especially when derived from the Bible or other religious book, is a direct breach of the separation of church and state.
Allowing gay and lesbian Americans access to the same rights and public institutions as heterosexual Americans in no way infringes on the rights of others. Religious institutions could still choose their doctrine and choose whether to perform marriage ceremonies to same sex couples. Realizing the Constitution requires our government equal rights and access under the law, therefore not providing them any powers to regulate morality, and stating that you cannot have a moral stance because the government cannot are two different things.
Believe what you believe in, and feel secure you have the right to have those beliefs. However, also understand that others have the right to have and live beliefs which may conflict with yours, and that government is to stay out of those differences as those others are not harming you or yours in any way.
