After two cases overstretching and construing the Constitution to fit into agendas, the Supreme Court affirmed the position some that some things are none of the government's business... and what a time for it!

Sodomy laws restricting the sexual activities of two consenting adults just because they are the same gender was ruled unconstitutional. It's about time, and hopefully this extends into other areas allowing consenting people to make their own decisions.

Now if we can follow Ontario's lead on marriage, we'll really be heading towards and equal society.

I agree with the Supreme Court in that it should be a private matter, not the states.

However, the states do retain legal control over marriage and I don't think gay marriage will or should be legalized anytime soon.

i agree with motorcity, marriage defined is the union b'w a man and a woman, that's a marriage, if two gay people want to live together fine, but they shouldn't be able to be married without webster changing the meaning of the word.

I've mixed feelings about the entire issue, but the classical and everlasting definition of marriage is between man and woman. Period.

It doesn't matter what society in what period of history you look at, the popular definition sticks.

I don't have any particular problems with gay/lesbian relationships, as I've known one that is more caring and dedicated towards each other than a number of devout Christian couples I know.

It just shouldn't be called marriage, though. Give it the same status, etc., just call it something else. A union, perhaps. In effect the vows and responsibilities should be the same, but in language it should be called something different than marriage.

It's a total case of semantics, but I feel a minimal distinction should be made in the legal language of it all...

In time I'm sure that will change. I just don't think society is ready to fully embrace same-sex marriages in terms of the same language.

The only reason it hit the SC is because of the legal issues surrounding "marriage" - ie. inheritance, insurance, etc.

Personally, I can't believe laws like the one that got struck down are still on the books in some places. America is truly the most backwards nation in the civilized world in many ways.

Ok this topic really strikes a nerve with me. Not so much the gay rights issue but with the way our fu@kin federal government up here deals with several issues.

As far as the gay rights go, I say they should be able to do what they want, but marrage is reserved for between a man and a woman. It's a deffinition that was made before anyone started counting years to begin with and is not for 3 judges to decide what's good for the rest of our nation.

In a pole across Canada just after the court decision, 80% of the population disagreed with it. 80 friggin precent!!! Do we live in a democracy here on not?!?!?!? So 3 people get to decide for the rest of the country who are againsed it anyway how it's going to be.

So what does our damn government do? Appeal the decision? Noooooooo....just sit there and make everyone take it up the a$$.

But we live in Canada where with our fu@kin liberal government the manority rules, because heaven forbid if they should do what it right, they may lose votes.

Christian are beginning to be persicuted here. Public prayer has been outlawed. There have been ocasions where someone has been praying in public, someone complained and they ended up being arrested.

Courts ruling that a teen should be allowed to take his gay date to his prom at a Catholic high school??? Hello??? It's a Catholic school, the judges get to tell them that they have to change their beleifs!!! I could see if it was a public school, but not a private Catholic one.

At the September 11 memorial services held in Canada, Johney Anti-Christian, would not allow any preists, or anyone for that mater, to pray. Canada was the only country in the Free world to not allow public prayer.

Maybe Mr. Bush can come up here and free our country from these stupid liberals.

Sorry about the long rant. I don't intend this in anyway to be gay bashing. I'm just have a lot of pent-up anger towards our federal government having had Johny anti-Christian in power for the last 10 years.

From what I've seen, Canada is about 50/50 on the gay marriage issue.

Besides, it's about getting the government off the backs of individuals. And making it treat them equally.

Gay men, I say have fun, Do want you want I don't wanna see it.

I'm all for lesbian women. Although, I really like the bi-sexual women. And best of all I like it when I'm in on it!!

After all, I am just a lesbian trapped in a mans body!
