Can anyone tell me where the line pressure test port is on the CD4E? There are three ports on the side of the tranny, the center port I believe is the CT pressure test point. What are the other two for and where is the LP TP??????

Iā??m waiting for my service manual but I want to check the pressures now that it isnā??t raining.

Thanks

Another TC problem

jeff

Ya know! I have no idea. Good reason for me to go read all the rest of the tests in the manual all the way through!

Umm... Not to bad if I do say so myself! It took me all of about 35 minutes to find the answer to that one. That would be from the time of my last post above and right now as I am typing this (well, trying to anyway!).

Anyway!

They are whats loosely called, lube taps. You can use them to check the state of fluid flow through different parts of the transmission. I cannot find any detailed information on these little buggers in the manual, but I did find some articles that point out a few small details about them. Very vague though.

I know that the one in the middle is called the CT port. What that is, I have no idea. The other two are as follows; front lube tap, used check flow to the differential area and the other is a cooler flow tap that allows you to check the flow of fluid through the radiator.

I think I know how to find out some more info... links to come!

Well, the darn manual did have what I thought it would. Actually, their procedure for check fluid flow to the cooler is actually "shadetree" to say the least!

OK! So here is the PDF that I got the small amount of info from about the taps. Read through the section titled "Good vs Bad Pressure: Test Results" and it gives you some things to look into from your results. Flip over to the top of page two and it has a spreedsheet style list of readings.

Also, here is a link to transonline.com for a simply search I did on the CD4E. Got back two pages of great stuff! But wouldn't ya know it, the picture I was looking for, Fig 5 in the Sonnax PDF above, is located on one of these documents and the one document that the pic is located.... the navigation does not work, so I could not find out which ones the other taps are!

Oh well, my head hurts now and it is only 6:30pm! I think I will take a break.

Have fun and I hope I was able to help you out.

Thanks for the help and the great info!

I have 30 PSI in the fwd ranges, 65 PSI in Rev, and 62 PSI in Neutral and Park. I get a strange momentary jump in line pressure when shifting directly into manual low. I see the same jump on my scan tool (that I determined is reading TV pressure). I think I can safely say that my pump is ok, now all I need to do is find the pressure loss in the fwd drive.

Anyone have any ideas?

jeff

You have an internal leak somewhere. Although I think I have already posted what I think it is... I am sure that Roadrunner will be around shortly to prove me wrong once again. Ah, live and learn.

I am so sorry Mercman, I will get you the info as soon as I can get my laptop dug out. That is, if you still need it.

I know it has to be in the Service Manual I have somewhere.
