For 3k you can put a very good down payment on an SVT. That would be a performance boost.

Yeah, but I'd rather get the turbo, or do engine work than buy another car that will have more problems down the road. Besides, if you buy an SVT you'll probably want to do more performance mods than if you just put the 3K towards turboing the Zetec.
