I've had something that sounds a lot like this for ages and ages...not quite the moose, but similar. Usually happens when I start the car and turn the a/c on right away, and also sometimes when I start the car when it's still hot.
I've always assumed it was the auxilliary fan kicking in. Maybe I should get mine checked!
