Its not the 8K price difference you were saying it was either.

Quaife LSD is not a factory part so I am assuming it could be used to void your warranty unless it was offered as one of the Mopar upgrades.

Based on some of the mods people are doing on some of the other boards to the SRT-4, I think many of them will be warranty-less anyhow.

Its a cool car but for 25K + I am not so sure...but then again you don't need all the stages and can do it over time.

2004 SRT-4s come with LSD standard. 2003 owners can order the Mopar LSD and keep their warranty. That's the beauty of Mopar.

People are going to compare it to the $31K Evo and the $32K Sti. That's a $6K and $7K price difference, respectively. I can't find anything on those cars worthy of an extra $6-7K. I'll hold final judgement until they're out and tested, to see how they compare on paper and in the real world.

Don't worry about my finances.. I haven't worked in 6 months, but still have a $200K house, 2 $50K cars, and enough in savings to buy an SRT-4 Stage 3 for cash. I can take care of myself. The .com boom was good to me, while it lasted.

Has anyone seen the Focus Cosworth? Looks awsome (its in all this months car mags)

Dont get me wrong , the SRT-4 is good , but if you put a turbo on a Focus SVT it would be a close call.

Are you kidding me? The Recaros are the only saving grace in the Evo, the rest of the interior is embarassing! The interior on the STi rocks, but the exterior is ridiculous looking. And I can't find the Cosworth at my local Ford dealership.. Hmm..

A turbo Focus? Give me a break. Show me a 300HP Focus with a warranty - Oh wait, it won't happen. Dodge did their homework, and the whole world is hating on them.

Need proof? Look below.

SRT-4 takes 8th place overall in the One Lap of America series:

1. 2002 Chevrolet Corvette Z-07
2. 2001 Chevrolet Corvette Z06
3. 2003 Dodge Viper SRT-10
4. 2001 RUF RGT
5. 2001 Porsche 911 Turbo
6. 1998 Toyota Supra Turbo
7. 1991 Chevrolet Corvette ZR-1
8. 2003 Dodge SRT-4
9. 1996 Lamborghini Diablo
10. 2000 Audi S4

The only mods to the SRT-4 were a Mopar Stage 1 Kit, and a Quaife LSD. Nice company to be grouped with.

Actually you are wrong, it had more mods than that. Oh and I think maybe the professional driver helped

As for the price difference between the Evo/sti and the SRT-4 I think the Brembo brakes, better tires, HID's, AWD.... might have something to do with it.

I'm telling you the way I heard it.. As for the driver, they're all professional drivers.. As I understand it, the drivers are DC employees who race SCCA. Not exactly pros.

Quote:

...it was Heuschele (SRT-4 driver) who stole the show. The SRT-4 had already become a focal point after it's performance at Watkin's Glen. Even though Heuschele had never been at the Glen before, he posted the 11th best time in the morning run, dusting a platoon of astonished SSGT1 campaigners. Pretty impressive forfour cylinders and fwd." They then say..."But the SRT-4's Road America performance went way beyond impressive. Starting first in his group of five, Heuschele not only drove away from his pursuers but went on to lap two of them. In just four laps. On a four-mile track. A wet four-mile track."

"His time was the day's third quickest, trailing only Gerrard(Ruf) and Adee(MTI Z07), both in much more powerful cars."

All w/o AWD. Or Brembo brakes. Or HIDs. Where's the Evo? (way down the list)

My point is that if you took an ameteur driver (like myself) and put him/her in a STOCK SRT-4 it would be more like 80th place, not 8th.

Your point is stupid. If you put an amateur in the Diablo, he'd crash within the first 2 laps. Of course an amateur racing a bunch of pros is going to do bad.

So by that rationale you are admitting the SRT-4 did well because it has been modified and had a veteran driver

Have you been drinking??

The car ran in a class with equally seasoned drivers. It ran at a SEVERE HP disadvantage. How does a 250HP FWD car with an LSD beat a 400+HP AWD Lambo, when both have equally good drivers? Couldn't be based on the merits of the car, could it?

if that is same test, the neon,,err srt-4 was driven by a guy that has raced neons (acr) for many years, giving him a slight edge. a car is only good as his driver. a good driver is only as good as his car.

Actually I did have a Michelob Ultra earlier but they are kinda weak.

The car:
Quote:

The PVO car is sporting Stage 1 Mopar kit, ACR struts, SRT4 springs, lowered, Quaiffe LSD , Roll bar, 22mm rear sway bar (stock front), Full Data aquisition system , driven and maintained by PVO themselves.

The Driver:
Quote:

Racing Accomplishments:

1997 SCCA Pro Racing Neon Challenge SSB Champion
1997 SCCA National Club Racing CENDIV Series, 2nd Place SSB(Tied for 1st in points)
1996 SCCA Pro Racing Neon Challenge SSC Champion

Doesn't sound like a factory backed modified SRT-4 with a seasoned driver to me

pete d, that's retarded. A [censored] neon, beat a [censored] lamborghini, I don't care how you do it. GO ahead, imply that Lambo would put a crappy driver in there car who cares.

Kermit- here's a link to the record setting srt-4 of Shaun Carlson.
