Yeah weight reduction is a big thing. Lighter is faster, well somewhat. Someone once said in a post that running on half a tank helps because of the weight of a full tank. If you want to go all out, remove the whole interior except for what you need, like seats and crap. get lighter weight wheels. Engine wise, take out the a/c, underdrive pully replacement with a lighter one, K&N air filter, free flow exhaust ETC... The cheapest but probably hardest way to gain time in the 1/4 mile is to go on a diet. -Rob

I would either run the thing till the gas light comes on (2 gallons left), or fill it to the top, to fight the inertia that all that gas sloshing around creates. Experiment, and record those 60 ft. times!?! Hot Rod magazine says fill 'er up...

my devirginizing post... what's going on. so to the subject, weight reduction is not somthing that i think the contour is ment for, atleast not for the most of the people on this forum, taking out seats and spares doesn't count., the real wight is removed in sound deadning and tow hooks and cutting big holes in your stuff. bumpers. not bumper covers; replacing glass with lexan , taking out the support structure under the hood and trunk, removing hood and trunk hinges and tossing some ever so ricey hood pins, back seets in a 4 door, those can go, ac power steering , hopefully i gave someone some ideas, ok to the gas issue. mixed feelings in this department. if your running on empty there is less weight forcing fuel into your fuel pump, and under wide open throtle situations i think that this can make a difference, i guess it depends on fuel cell design, ofcorse a 5 gal cell will do ya good, but how about the 15 gal cell with a funnel at the bottom feeding the fuel lines.... i read somthing about a bigger maf i believe, to the best of my knowlege this'll just make you run lean as crap depending on difference in size, unless your ecu is modified to match.
anyone got some crazy cam's and some lightweight pullies, all motor mania. don't forget your lightned flywheel for rev happyness
well guys show me the ropes

The A/C only draws power from the engine when the A/C unit is turn on, don't waste your time removing it, plus don't you want to cool off when leaving the track

I know alot of racers use the lexan windows but they are riveted on. Can the lexan be used and still roll up? I have kids so removing the back seat is only a track option. Also anyone ever mounted a 10 gallon fuel cell in the stock location? I would like to put it in the trunk but I do need a spare tire on trips.
