Worn brake pads usually squeel when they are getting to the very end of life. Another few days and then they start grinding and it's big dollar bingo.
31K is not too early for front pads to be wearing out, and worth a check. Sometimes a dragging brake will squeek when the brakes are off and disappear when you slow. A close inspection of the calipers should find this type of problem. Rear drums can get squueky if there is lots of dust, and a good cleaning can quiet them down.
