Will this be easy to install? I plan on installing it my self, I have never done this before. Is there any things I should look out for? The sales guy from SP said it should take about an hour to do.
Thanks

It's been a long time since I did mine but I remember this: Be very careful taking it apart. There is a little centering spring, that comes off....if you don't see how it went on, it takes a bit of time to figure it out. Other than that it's pretty simple. Takes a bit of time to get used to mikey

Easy to do. Biggest hassle is getting the console off and on. Do yourself a favor and don't bother reinstalling the centering spring. While you're in there you can also disable the reverse lockout - remove the lug and sleeve (you'll see what I mean when you take it apart.)

you'll be able to do it faster when you have to take it out and put the stock one back in b/c it broke

...and remember that pulling straight back on the center shifter cable should net you 3rd gear which is just enough to get you home in a pinch (twice!)
Very important! You might as well replace the clip (Ford calls it a bearing; search for part number) that holds the plastic centering-spring et al assembly on the shaft with one from the dealer, or use an "E" clip. Most any hardware shop worth their salt will know what an E-clip is and can size one for you with the leather shifter cover removed and said metal shaft exposed.

In retrospect, it was all downhill from here. RIP, CEG.

The install went very smooth, and took about 35 minutes. I kept the centering spring on too.
are people having problems with these shifers breaking?

they break easily, the ball at the bottom that you put into the linkage is where mine broke...

the shifter WILL work BETTER without the centering spring...that spring helps pull the shifter into neutral, which is not good for quick shifting....do yourself a favor and remove it...
